The Yagarrajalajalan nagula buru project team recently got together on Yawuru country at the University of Notre Dame Australia, Broome Campus. We were warmly welcomed with a smoking ceremony and Welcome to Country by Yawuru Cultural Consultant, Dianne Appleby. During 10 sessions taking place over 3 days, the team workshopped remaining project activities and consulted with the local community.

Following the team workshop, we were very grateful for the opportunity to share a project update on behalf of the whole project team and introduce our PhD students to the Yawuru Land & Sea Sub-committee. This opportunity was an important step in the process of building and maintaining trust with valuable members of the Yawuru community, as well as an opportunity for the community to give feedback and ask questions for the project team.
